On November 2-3, 2024, the 9th National Solid State Battery Symposium was successfully held in Xiamen, hosted by the Solid State Ionics Branch of the Chinese Silicate Society, and co-sponsored by Xiamen University, Fujian Battery Technology Association, and IEST

With the theme of “Status and Development of Solid State Battery Technology”, this conference brings together nearly 1,000 experts and scholars in the field of solid state batteries, representatives of famous enterprises, student representatives, exhibitors, etc., focusing on the core technology and key scientific issues of solid state batteries, and launching in-depth discussions on issues of common concern to the industry and summarizing and looking forward to the current status and trends of the development of solid state batteries.The current situation and trend of solid state battery development will be summarized and outlook.

1. Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof.Yang Yong, and speeches were made by Mr. You Yancheng, Vice President of Xiamen University, Mr. Jin Zhanping, Vice President of China Silicate Society, and Mr. Wen Zhaoyin, President of Solid State Ionization Branch of China Silicate Society. Also present at the opening ceremony were academician Nan Cewen, vice president of the Chinese Society of Silicates, Song Yi, secretary of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Xiamen University, and Prof. Ren Bi , dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering.

2. Conference Reports

There are one main session and two sub-sessions in this conference. 6 conference reports, academician Nan Cewen from Tsinghua University combed the research hotspots in the field of solid-state lithium batteries in recent years, and looked forward to the R&D trend, emphasizing the important role of the integration of academic research with artificial intelligence and industrial innovation in facilitating the breakthroughs of product innovation in all solid state battery. Academician Sun Xueliang introduced in detail the team’s research ideas in the development of halide solid-state electrolyte materials and shared the academic achievements in the field of lithium-ion and sodium-ion solid-state batteries; Researcher Li Hong introduced the team’s achievements in the research of polymer-oxide composite electrolytes for solid-state batteries and the related industrialization; Academician Chen Zhongwei from the Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ICPS) gave a detailed introduction and analysis of the team’s latest achievements in dry electrodes and the process of dry-spray electrodes. Professor Chen Zhongwei of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, introduced and analyzed in detail the latest achievements of his team in dry electrode and dry spraying electrode process, and shared the research ideas of dry electrode in regulating ion diffusion channels of solid-state electrolyte; Researcher Wen Zhaoyin introduced the key technologies and research results of the development of solid-state batteries from the national key projects; Prof.Yang Yong introduced the recent achievements of the design of high-performance sulfur anode for solid-state lithium-sulfur batteries.

IEST is a high-tech enterprise specializing in the research, development and production of lithium-ion battery testing instruments, and is committed to providing leading testing solutions and services for the global new energy sector.

As one of the organizers of this year’s conference, R&D Manager of IEST Qi Qiongqiong was also invited to make a report on “Multi-dimensional Force-Electric Coupling Characterization Strategy for Solid State Battery”, which introduces the innovative characterization methods for solid state batteries from the multi-dimensional aspects of materials, electrodes, and cells, which was highly appreciated by the attendees.At the same time, the solid-state electrolyte analysis system, single-particle mechanical performance test system, high-throughput solid state battery force-electric coupling test system, electrochemical performance analyzer and other equipment exhibited on site by Yuanneng Technology attracted strong attention. Many guests and visitors stopped by to learn more about the instruments and had further technical exchanges with the R&D team of IEST after the meeting.

At the closing ceremony, Wen Zhaoyin, Chairman of the Solid State Ion Branch of the Chinese Silicate Society, presented the “Excellent Organizing Unit of the Conference” award to IEST Co., Ltd. Zhang Xinghua, General Manager of IEST, came on stage to receive the honor and took a photo with the chairman of the conference.
