CATL Launches Shenxing PLUS – LiFePO4 Battery Achieves 1000 KM Range with 4C Ultra-Fast Charging

At the 2024 China Auto Show, CATL released the world’s first 4C ultra-fast charging LiFePO4 battery with a range of more than 1,000 kilometers – Shenxing PLUS. Within 8 months since the launch of the Shenxing ultra-fast charging battery in August 2023, CATL once again broke through the boundaries of LiFePO4 battery technology and opened the era of ultra-fast charging for the entire industry.

The Shenxing PLUS battery provides users with an ultra-long driving range of more than 1,000 kilometers, which enables new energy vehicles to not only meet commuting needs in urban areas, but also to adapt to long-distance inter-provincial travel. At the system level, Shenxing PLUS battery pack optimizes the topology based on the module-less CTP 3.0 technology, increasing packaging efficiency by 7%. Through breakthroughs in materials and structures, the energy density of the Shenxing battery system broke through the 200Wh/kg mark for the first time, reaching 205Wh/kg, and a cruising range of more than 1,000 kilometers became a reality.

In addition to providing long-distance transmission, Shenxing PLUS also has the characteristics of fast charging. It can achieve a range of 600 kilometers after charging for 10 minutes, which is far greater than ordinary batteries on the market, achieving a true ultra-fast charging speed of one kilometer per second. To achieve a leap in charging speed, Shenxing PLUS applies technologies such as fast lithium-ion conductive coating, the addition of transition metal elements, and new nano-encapsulation to make the energy transmission between the positive electrode material and the negative electrode material smoother and more efficient. CATL expands the overcurrent area and capacity of terminals in the battery system to quickly dissipate heat during high current charging. In terms of BMS core algorithms, CATL’s newly developed AI polarization model can predict and control charging current in real time, achieving faster and smarter energy replenishment.
